“You in” for green kindness?

The end of the year is a traditional time for giving back to
the community. This year, Yahoo! encourages you to spread the word about your
good deeds through the new “You In?” campaign. Tell the world what great, green
acts of kindness you’ve done recently and encourage others to join in.
The project is happening at http://kindness.yahoo.com/ — on this
site, you can type in a status message sharing what good deed you’re up to. This
message will be displayed on an interactive global map at this site.
Inspire others (or get ideas) by posting your eco-friendly
acts of goodwill, such as these:
- I
donated old towels to use as animal bedding at the Humane Society. You In? - I gave
a reusable shopping bag to the person in line behind me at the grocery
store before the cashier could say “paper or plastic?” - I
bought weather-stripping & helped install it in the windows of an
elderly couple’s house on my block. You in? - My
wife and I have over 20 loans going at Kiva.org. You in? - I like
to give my recyclables to a homeless person. They get the deposit money,
& the bottles still get recycled. - I
picked up litter on my street, you in?
You can even post pictures of your good deeds (green or otherwise)
on Flickr.
Yahoo! may get inspiration from all these messages and photos to do more Purple Acts of Kindness
in the future.
So, are you in?
